The second qualifying session saw six of the ten entries get into the fours. Randy Rencher was able to muster a 4.78 @ 130.62 after missing the first run, having to patch a hole in the oil pan of the Money Shot that was the result of catching the drain plug on the trailer ramp when unloading the car. Eric Clark slotted in at number four after running an early shut off 4.38 @126.02. This was the first event for the Clack Brothers team with their recently acquired former Hell Hoss 67 blown Mustang. Local Jeff Benham ended up third with a 4.32 @168.41mph while another local, Eric Stubbs, laid down the run of the night to take the pole with a wheels up 4.09 @ 192.97mph. Round 1 began with Eric Stubbs slapping a .0279 to .1113 hole shot on Rodney Delker and coupleing it with a 4.28 @ 182.78mph win light. The next pair saw Jeff Benham run a straight and true 4.30 @ 166.36 to take out Cowboy, who just couldn’t get the Camaro’s turbo power hooked up, trailing at 5.23 @ 114.30mph.
