There wasn’t a great deal of anticipation when it came to Top Fuel, as with just two cars in the field there wasn’t much build up for Bobby Lagana and Bruce Litton’s “final round”.  At the green it was Lagana who moved first, but as the cars hit the 330 mark, they both started to spin the tires, and as they neared the 1000 foot mark both started to move around quite a bit. At the finish line, it was the New York veteran who stayed with it just a hair longer to take the win, 5.35 at 218.07 to Litton’s 5.52 at just 193.50.

Next up was the Nostalgia Fuel Altered class. This cast of characters is the essence of the class, as these teams have forgotten more about running a fuel altered than most people would ever know. The first round matched Jason Richey’s Pure Hell up against Ron W. Maroney in Nanook.  Richey blew the tires off the car at the green and it seemed like an easy win for Maroney. However Maroney had his hands full with the Nanook and he went cone mowing and got DQd, giving Richey the win.  Next up was Tom Padilla in the Nasty Benjamin car and Randy Bradford in the family Topalino. At the flash of the green it was Bradford off first as Padilla took a siesta. On the other hand, Bradford had his hands full with the two tone brown altered, as it was going every which way but straight; once Padilla woke up he started to run down Bradford, and took the win, 6.87 to 7.34.

In the final it was Padilla and Richey. It must have been a late night for Padilla, as he was back to snoozing at the green. Richey wasn’t great on the light, but it was still better than Padilla. However it was only going to last ‘til about 330 feet as Padilla started to run down Richey, who had fallen victim to a lack of traction downtrack and started spinning the tires. That was enough for the bright maroon to go by for the win, 6.58 to a slowing 6.86 second run.
