After a couple of meetings barely getting to the sixty foot beams under power, Risto Poutiainen certainly made up for it with second spot at a new PB of 4.709/317.06mph; the latter matching TJ Jr’s speed, but the Finn already had a back up for a new European TS record thanks to an earlier 4.825/315.97mph. "I am so happy for the new European speed record. I want to thank Rune Fjeld and my great, great team. We've been chasing this record for couple of years already. It was breathtaking when TJ had exactly same top speed, but couldn't back it up. Yet. We were prepared to make an attempt for even bigger numbers in elimination, but unfortunately race rained out. Helmets off also to Tommy Johnson Jr. Obviously it's going to be a thrilling battle for the European Championship again."

FIA Pro Modified

The Pro Mod entry had 22 cars putting numbers on the board (Henri Joosten’s '55 Chevy being a 23rd, until its sad demise in a fiery conflagration featured on the cover of DRO last week). Whilst the track conditions were excellent, the tuning window was narrow and Micke Gullqvist found something close to the sweet spot with a final session 6.085/234 to sit on top of the heap with the R2B2 Camaro. “We had the first part of the track covered good and we were working on some chassis tuning to get the car accepting a couple of bumps down the track that we had issues with. All in all we were happy to be on top after qualifying, even if we were not close to any record setting performance.”
