Castellana (near lane) and Jones

The semifinals found the two compressed air racers, turbocharger racer Dennis Radford facing supercharger maven Danny Rowe on one side of the ladder. On the other side of the ladder Mike Castellana faced his Al-Anabi teammate, Get Screen America rookie Rickie Jones.

By this time the racers were facing corrected altitude of over 3,000 feet and a track temp over 120 degrees. Radford did his burnout as did Rowe but as Radford backed up his car was leaking fluid in the track and he was shut off, giving Rowe a single for the semifinal win. Rowe, obviously looking for lane choice, ran a 5.955/244+ on his single. Castellana ran away from Pro Mod rookie Jones with a 6.019/235 to Jones’s off-pace 6.34/214+ effort.

The final round was a classic Pro Mod race pitting supercharger racer Danny Rowe and his tuner Jimmy Rector against nitrous racer Mike Castellana and his tuner Brandon Switzer. For Rowe, who qualified number one, it was his third consecutive Get Screened America final.  At the flash of green Castellana’s Camaro moved first with a .066 RT to Rowe’s .073. Catellana blistered the Norwalk quarter mile with a 5.869-second run at 243.24 mph. That effort was good for Low ET of the meet.

Rowe ran 5.960 seconds at 244.78 mph in a losing effort.

Khalid Balooshi (shown), who was defeated in the second round, retains the series points lead by 23 points over Danny Rowe. With his second win of the season, Castellana is in fifth place.
