FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified

What a weekend for Bruno Bader and the Swiss Golden Vette team. They’ve pretty much always been a fixture in the top half of the FIA Pro Modified fields over the past few seasons, and almost never a first round loser, the consistency of the ex-Mike Ashley Corvette managed to prevail over the quickest field in European history (Norbert Kuno holding the record bump spot at a 6.240), allied to a little luck. The consistency came with a 6.123 qualifier that held up for number 8 in the field, a 6.156 that defeated Jan Gunnarsson’s Badillac’s 6.187 in the first round of eliminations. The luck came in when low qualifier (at a 6.010) Adam Flamholc red lit (Bader carding a 6.118) in the quarters and another foul from Johan Lindberg in the semis put Bader in the final against Micke Gullqvist. The Swedish R2B2 driver had produced two fives on the way to the final, setting class best numbers of 5.979/240.87 in the semifinal victory over Micke Lindahl and opening round 5.989 being the first PM five in Sweden, but had to put the clutch in well before the finishline giving Bader his first FIA event win with his best time of the meeting at 6.104/231. “It’s like a Swiss watch, always on time. We might not be the quickest, but we’re always there” beamed Bader.

Reigning FIA Pro Modified champion Johan Lindberg deserves mention (although that comment also applies to pretty much all of the record setting field) as brother Jonnie tuned him to his first five second ticket in the quarters with a 5.987/239 accounting for Marc Meihuizen. Although a redlight against Bader in the next round ended their racing for the day, the Lindberg family have been heavily involved in building the Tierp facility over the winter and will be delighted with the result of their efforts on and off the track.
