Pure Street put on quite a show. Even in the heat and humidity, the drivers were hanging the wheels in the air on every pass. Alan Von Ahnen – the class’ quickest competitor ever – again took the top spot with a 10.18 at 130 mph. Brandon Alsept was only a tick behind with a 10.23 at 131 mph, and the rest of the field followed at least a tenth behind that.  As eliminations rolled around, Von Ahnen made it to the finals, defeating Shawn Johnson and then taking the competition bye into the final. Mike Winters, however, had to mow through two heavy hitters in the form of Drew Lyons in the first round, and Brandon Alsept in the semis to face Von Ahnen in the final. While Winters got the starting line advantage, Von Ahnen was able to power around and take the win.

The Factory Stock class was lighter than usual at the Michigan stop on the tour, and the low ET of qualifying was doubly impressive when you consider the atmospheric conditions. Carlos Sobrino was able to card an 11.07, putting him a tenth ahead of the number-two-qualified Louis Sylvester.  While he had the ET advantage, Sobrino went out in the first round when he was slow off the line and stumbled, giving John Leslie Jr. a window to get around him. Leslie then took the semifinal bye into the finals. On the other side of the ladder, Louis Sylvester eliminated John Leslie Sr. in the first round and Brian Campbell in the semis to face Leslie Jr. The race was not to be, as Leslie was backed off of the line with a rear main seal leak, allowing Sylvester to take the beams unopposed for the win.
