The family of Tim Hay, of Burleson, Texas, were on hand to support the race after the tragic crash that claimed his life in the final round in 2010. Candy Hay presented a framed poster to track manager Gerald Kramer in gratitude for his love and support of the family after the loss of Tim. Candy Hay was the honorary starter and Grand Marshall for the event. Not to be left out, son Shawn and daughter Kristen Hay pitched in and worked with crews in attendance from Texas. Candy Hay and family were presented yellow roses and a 1/18th scaled model of the AA/Fuel Altered “High Voltage Hayride” car that Tim drove. Photographer Mike Garland scratch built the exacting model over a three month period and enclosed it in a custom case for them. Tim’s motto of “YOU LIFT, YOU LOOSE” will be in the hearts of many people for years to come.

With perfect weather and an overflow crowd, racing does not get any better than this. If you missed this year’s event, be sure to attend the 2012 race at America’s finest 8th mile track in the bright green rolling hills of Southeast Iowa.
