The defence of their 2010 championship hasn’t exactly gone to plan for the Lindberg Brothers, although they came into Santa Pod with the hope of getting close to duplicating the 5.922 (a new European best mark) that Johan had produced in domestic competition in Sweden the previous month. Unfortunately, track conditions prevented any Pro Mod from cracking the five second barrier, and eighth spot with a 6.313 didn’t suggest anything spectacular would happen on raceday. The “I’d rather be lucky than good” mantra must have featured strong in the Lindberg camp however, as Dutchmen David Vegter and Marc Meihuizen both redlit away what would have been comfortable wins against Lindberg in the first and semi-final round, and Gullqvist coughed up a 9 second pass in the quarters to enable Lindberg’s 6.30 to progress. The luck ran out in the final with a -0.1816 RT being someway away from a close shave.
