AHDRA Jim McClure Nationals at Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Versatile Douglas Horne extended his dominance at   Rockingham Dragway Sunday, Oct. 14, by winning the top two titles in the 21st running of the All-Harley Drag Racing Association Screamin’ Eagle Parts Jim McClure Nitro Nationals.

Horne turned back an international field of Top Fuel Harley-Davidson riders that included former AHDRA champ Takeshi Shigematsu of Iyo, Ehime, Japan, and brothers Devin and Mike Pelrine of Bruderheim, Alberta, Canada, to win for the third consecutive time at The Rock.

Although he struggled early, qualifying only sixth, the 24-year-old phenom rallied to turn back veteran Larry “Drums” Brancaccio of Nutley, N.J., in the final after Brancaccio had upset No. 1 qualifier Tommy Grimes of Pfafftown in the semis.

Horne was unchallenged in Pro Fuel, winning for the seventh straight time at Rockingham while keeping his record perfect in this year’s series.  The only Pro Fuel title he didn’t win this year was at Woodburn, Ore., in a race he chose not to attend.

With his double-up victories, Horne secured the AHDRA’s overall Top Fuel and Pro Fuel series championships for the second consecutive year.

Riders representing 22 states, Canada and Japan qualified Harleys for the race with 10 different states represented in the winners’ circle.
