In a rematch of the Top Alcohol Funny Car match up at the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas, Annie Whiteley (near lane) got some revenge, knocking out Tony Bartone for the win this time around. Class hitters Mike DePalma and David Rampy squared off in Comp Eliminator with DePalma, Glendale, Ariz., taking home the trophy in his ’89 Trans Am, with a lap of 9.132 seconds at 141.27 mph to the quicker Rampy in his ’32 roadster while Las Vegas racer Roger Hall fell to Doug Watts out of Syracuse, Utah, in the division’s Top Sportsman class.
