Mooreland, Lousiana’s Kyle Olson covered the field and went 8.197 seconds at 150.30 mph in the final for the win over Mike McCullah, Houston.           

Other winners this weekend included Dillon Bontrager Wylie, Texas, in Super Gas with a holeshot win over Wes Neely. Bontrager combined a.024 RT and a 9.932/156.05 lap to get the win over Neely, who had a slightly tardy .037 RT and couldn’t convert his better 9.925 143.00 into a win.             

Steve Mikus, Ashley, Mich., beat Al-Anabi NHRA Top Fuel shoe Shawn Langdon in Super Comp. Mikus had .002RT and ran an 8.927 153.33 and forced Langdon to break out when Langdon had a .021RT and then ran a out the back with an 8.894 at 172.12.

Sikeston, Mo., racer Randy Eakins launches his 2010 F/SA Challenger. He ran as quick as 10.711, which is a whopping 1.139 under the class index!

Mike Crutchfield, Montgomery, Ala., beat another NHRA national event regular, David Rampy (who usually runs Comp), in Super Stock; and John Brimer, Burleson, Texas, got the victory in Stock defeating Wade Owens, Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Leading Saturday’s winners was Charlie Westcott Sr. (shown)of Parma, Mich., in the Super Stock Hemi “Shootout” for the 1968 Dodge Darts and Dodge Barracudas. Westcott ran the quickest time of eliminations with an 8.451 second run at 158 mph over Jim Pancake, Delaware, Ohio, with an 8.548, 155.13. Westcott qualified No. 4 and beat Fred Henson in the semifinals to advance to the final.

Westcott’s son, Charlie Jr. lost in round two to Henson, Madisonville, Texas, when he suffered clutch problems.
