Who needs those extra 320 feet to go fast? The performance of the Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway on April 15 proved that the crew chiefs have been able to overcome the track length shortened to 1,000 feet in 2008 to decrease top-end speed and increase safety.

The dominant start of the 2012 season continued for Funny Car racer Robert Hight as he scored his fourth win in five races. Spencer Massey in Top Fuel and Greg Anderson in Pro Stock also secured wins.

TOP FUEL

The saying the third time is a charm rings true for the Prestone/FRAM Top Fuel team and Spencer Massey as they captured their third win of the season.

The team made themselves known in a big way during the opening round of eliminations on Sunday where conditions were just right for setting records when the team posted a 330.55 mph pass to earn their way into the second round.

"It's unbelievable," Massey said. "It was awesome going 328 mph yesterday and then coming out this morning and blistering a 330 right after watching (teammate) Tony Schumacher go 330 mph, too."
