Rod Centorbi (left) and Aaron Brooks look on at Morgan Lucas warms up the dragster.

"I know that if I can drive even half as good as this car runs, I'll have a great chance to turn on the win light. I mean, we were low of every round. I know that's never happened to me before. What an incredible job by Aaron (Brooks, crew chief) and the guys. Wow!"

Lucas's second victory of the season began with an easy one-second win over Troy Buff in Round 1. It definitely was a statement pass as Lucas put down a massive 3.776 at 325.06 mph to fire up the capacity crowd.

Up next, was seven-time world champion Tony Schumacher, but Lucas was ready, grabbing a .030-second starting line advantage and never looking back, winning with a 3.834 at 322.19 mph to Schumacher's 3.865 at 319.67 mph.

Bob Vandergriff awaited in the semifinals but once again Lucas posted a quicker start and drove away for another sizable victory.

It’s a good view from the winner’s seat.

That set-up a final-round fight with Antron Brown, against whom he'd lost 12 of 13 previous match-ups. This time, it was all Lucas as Brown smoked the tires just off the launch pad and could only watch as Lucas posted a winning 3.848 at 320.81 mph.

"This one's for Mom and Dad," Lucas said. "It's for GEICO, Lucas Oil, MAVTV, Toyota and everyone else that has stood with us over the years. I have no doubt that people doubted my abilities and I gave them no reason to have any confidence in what we could do, but we paid a lot of dues and learned a lot of different things to get to this point. Now we need to just keep making good decisions and stay after it."

Lucas's win lifted him to third in the Full Throttle points, just 30 behind new leader Brown and 18 back of Spencer Massey.
