The combination of the re-opening of Gateway Motorsports Park and the return of the ADRL to their home track resulted in what may go down in ADRL history as one of best events ever as far as racing a records are concerned. The race on June 1-2 benefited from both an excellent track and extraordinarily good atmospheric conditions for June in the Midwest and as a result seven national and track eighth-mile records were set during the CarSafe-backed event.

Among the notable efforts over the two days were in Extreme Pro Stock by St. Louis racer John DeFlorian, who re-set both the Speed and ET records, and by Chuck Mohn, who re-set the national ET record for Top Sportsman at 4.089.

Several other racers, including Pat Musi in Pro Modified, Alan Pittman in Extreme Ten-Five and Ronnie Davis in Top Sportsman ran speeds or ET’s better than the existing national records but were unable to back them up.
