James Lichty of Linwood, Ont., placed second, followed by Rick Kopp of Burlington, Ont., Mike Hinbest of Orangeville, Ont., and Billy White of Wartburg, Ont.

On the Top Sportsman side, Hyde, who also qualified fourth, met up with and defeated the supercharged 1957 Chevy of Paul Martin of Breslau, Ont., in the class final. Darrin Grubb of Pine River, Ont., and Bob Bauer Jr. of Elma, NY, were semi-finalists.

In Top Sportsman qualifying, two-time champion Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ont., took the number one spot with a 6.797-second, 203.09-mph effort in his Dodge Stratus. Mike Wagg of Waterdown, Ont., placed second, Darryl McMillen of Goderich, Ont., took third, followed by Spencer Hyde of Stratford, Ont., and Paul Martin of Breslau, Ont.

In the PBSS, Kevin McKay of Ingersoll, Ont., rode his Pro Bike Suzuki to the number one qualifying spot with a 7.711-second, 169.10-mph run. John Orfanidis of Toronto placed second with his Pro Bike entry. Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ont., also in Pro Bike, qualified third, while Chris Bondi of Aurora, Onta., with his Pro Sled Skidoo, and Ted Glinny of Milton, Ont., rounded out the top five with his Pro Bike entry.
