Bike Classes

After Ven Racing team-mate Graham Balchin grabbed the headlines at UEM level during the Main Event, team principal Steve Venables re-asserted his dominance on the ACU Super Street Bike class with a low qualifying 7.380/189, and when the bikes were cut back to the eighth mile thanks to strong cross winds, set a series of great clockings culminating in a 4.806/157mph over a redlighting Balchin.

ACU Funny Bike saw first time finalists in the shape of Richard Stubbins (dabbling in the barred classes) and Dutchman Martjin Zijlstra and it would be the latter picking up his first win when Stubbins had a fairly lengthy doze on the line.

Four bikes made the call for ACU Pro Stock Bike but it was last season’s champion Len Paget who managed to out qualify Ray Debben, Paul King and Kev Charman and defeated the latter two head-to-head in eliminations; the final round against Charman largely being decided by a massive holeshot at the tree and a 4.819 to a 4.932 at the stripe.
