First timers fill winners circle at US 131’s ADRL event - DeFlorian, Rahaim win; Castellana goes 3.82 with N2O

"

This is something I’ve dreamed about. I’ve been trying to get one of these things for so long.  - John DeFlorian

For veteran doorslammer racers and ADRL regulars Bob Rahaim and John DeFlorian the ADRL Summernationals at US 131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan, was the best race they’ve had in their relatively short professional careers. The two ADRL regulars have up to now labored in relative racing obscurity, but by winning their first ever national event July 14th they’ll now have the recognition and satisfaction that comes from beating the best in their sport.

Over the last couple of decades St. Louis Extreme Pro Stock racer John DeFlorian has built and driven a variety of race cars. Some were his and sometimes he drove someone else’s cars but he always found a way to compete. He did this while working full time building race cars for other racers at the Jerry Haas Fenton, Mo., race car factory. DeFlorian is now the second Pro Stock driver in that shop to own a national event win in Pro Stock.
