Pro Mod qualifying was a war between Coyle, Jones and Eddie Rogers for the top qualifying spot. Coyle, driving chassis builder Andy McCoy’s house car, and Jones in his RJ Race Cars house car had an answer for Rogers, who would improve only to have Coyle be a little better. In the end Coyle claimed the number one qualifying spot with a 3.903/188.94 which is the new record of the Chris Duncan Race Cars Midwest Pro Mod Series as well as the World Series race record. Jones was second with the quickest and fastest ever nitrous pass for the Series and the World Series at 3.956/187.39.

In the unfamiliar (for him) third qualifying position was defending Series Champ and current points leader Eddie Rogers in his supercharged ‘Vette who had a best effort of 3.985/184.40.

The bump spot for the eight-car field was held by series regular Cathy Belcher from Rantoul, Ill., in her supercharged ‘90 Camaro with a 4.186/176.97 effort.
