A season littered with first round exits and a DNQ might end up on a high note for Micke Kågered and the Bacho Tools Express as the Swede snagged a surprise round win against low qualifier (at 4.044/294mph) Janne Ahonen who, with assistance from Donnie Bender, has been one of the form horses through the mid point of the year. Kågered’s best run was two tenths behind Ahonen’s pole, but, at 4.244, represented the quickest bump spot of the 1000 foot fuel era in Europe. After Sunday morning rain conditions were considerably different than during qualifying and with some moisture in the air, Kågered’s 4.354/235 stayed ahead of Ahonen’s 4.370/243 in a brief pedaling contest.
