In the final analysis, the Western Shootout was a success! Lots of recent Pro Mod races across the country kept the top spots from filling with cars, but those who raced were some of the finest. In fact there were a number of 4 second 1/8th mile cars in competition. Consider this: Your writer operated a mid-western 1/8th mile plant for eight seasons in the ‘60s. The quickest time back then was a 5.17 e.t. by ‘Big Daddy’ Don Garlits; and today door slammers go a full second quicker.

The event concluded with the ‘Car Girl’ Alex Rogeo from MOPAR MAX handing out trophies and plaques to the throng of happy winners.
