Doorslammers rule at Tulsa

Tulsa Raceway Park track operators and racers, Keith Haney and Todd Martin, have a couple of unique annual events called “Throw Down in T-town”. They schedule one during the in April and a second in October. In a short time the Throw Down has become “the race” for Southwest doorslammer racers and fans (especially for the fans since tickets for this event are free).

This year’s event, according to Todd Martin, attracted just over 32,000 fans over the three days and most of the quickest and fastest doorslammers from Oklahoma and surrounding states. There were 28
entries in the bad-fast Outlaw Pro Mod class racing an eighth-mile distance. The “bump” for the eight cars that made the field was an impressive 3.819 by Eric Clark.

The race also featured several ten-wide classes including an Outlaw 10.5 class, a combo 10.5/X275 Radial Tire class, Outlaw Ten-wide, and a legal Pro Mod class. In all more than 140 cars paid the entry fee and raced.
