OUTLAW PRO MOD QUALIFYING AND ELIMINATIONS

Twenty-eight racers from five states and Canada showed up for the Throw Down. Track operator and Pro Mod team owner Todd Martin put both of his cars into the elite eight. Brandon Pesz, who drove the second Martin car, was on the pole with an impressive 3.664/209.79. Three cars in the eight-car field, including Texan Frankie “Madman” Taylor, qualified with ET’s under 3.70.

The first pairing in eliminations in O/PM found former injected nitro now supercharged alky Pro Mod racer Don Wooten get a pass into the second round when his opponent, Aaron Wells, couldn’t make the call. Martin went to the second round combining a slower 3,675/207.72 effort with a serious .014 light to trailer Taylor, who ran a quicker 3.657/206.35 but lost thanks to his .116 bulb.

Pesz sent Illinois racer Duane Rister and his nitrous oxide-injected ’68 Camaro home early when Rister broke and Pesz just staged, broke the beam for the win, and then was pushed back.

That set up a final round in the class between supercharger racers Pesz and Wooton. The pair were obviously “amped” for the final as both drivers red-lighted. Wooton was way early with a -.087 light and Pesz followed with a -.006 bulb. Wooton coasted to the finish line with a 4.66/100+ lap while Peaz legged his car to the finish line and recorded a very impressive 3.67/206.42 for his second straight win at the Throw Down at T-town.
