The legal Pro Mod field was also an eight-car qualified field and like the Outlaw Pro Mod field, one of the co-owners of the track, this time Keith Haney who has a two-car nitrous team, managed to qualified both of his team cars into the field. Haney qualifying No. 1 in his Reher-Morrision powered 2013 Camaro with a 3.97/187+ effort. His second car driven by Monroe Guest got the third spot in a similarly equipped Camaro with a 4.055/185.95.

Sandwiched between the two nitrous-injected Chevys was the turbocharged Ford Mustang driven by NHRA Pro Mod regular Steve Matusek, who qualified with a 3.982/196.96.

The first pair out in eliminations featured the father and son Mountain-motor Pro Stock team of Dean and Cary Goforth driving their pair of naturally aspirated 2013 gas burning Pro Mod Camaros. Both cars are basically identical and ran that way. Each driver recorded a 4.077 ET but the father, Dean, had a .066 bulb to Cary’s .127 and Dean advanced.

Monroe Guest clobbered second-generation racer Cale Aronson and his Ford Mustang with a very respectable 4.034/187+ to Aronson’s game 4.088/174+ effort. Matusek easily defeated Kayla Morton with a shut-off 4.287/166.42 to Morton’s 4.835/148.23. The final pair in the first round matched Keith Haney against Jeffery Cummins and Haney dominated with a 3.978/188.25 that easily covered Cummins’s 4.406/181.35.
