Dale Nilles rounded out quite a year onboard the Punisher Pro Dragster having picked up five Wallys in the NHRA Harley-Davidson Racing/Screaming Eagle Drag Racing Series, the last being the weekend before Bradenton over in Las Vegas. The long drive over to Bradenton turned out to be well worth it as a first round win over Walter Halonski secured the Manufacturers’ Cup championship and a 7.338 in the final took the event trophy over low qualifier Rocky Jackson.
It’s been a long time in the planning, but once he was on American soil Eric Teboul certainly wasn’t hanging around as a 5.121/264.39 first blast lowered the Frenchman’s own two wheeled low ET of the World (the 1/8th mile clocks were stopped in 3.396 seconds at 232.01 mph and we’d hazard a guess at somewhere around 280/290mph being hit around the 1000 foot mark before the fuel ran out. Race Director and Promoter MRE’s Jay Regan was stunned and impressed in equal measure afterwards: “I don’t care what he runs tomorrow, that was more than I could wish for”. Issues with getting the H2O2 bike stopped in the shutdown area prevented a repeat on the Sunday, but a 5.334 at 228, accompanied by another low 3 second at over 230 clocking at the 1/8th rounded off his weekend and a wonderful return for rockets in the States. Teboul is now ready to run into the fours back in Europe next season.
