Semis

The first pairings in the semis found the blown Willys of Hickl running the nitrous Camaro of local favorite Gulitti. At the green Hickl put a holeshot on Gulitti an outstanding  .024 RT to Gulitti’s .053.  As the machines headed down the tricky surface Gulitti had to lift while Hickl thundered through the traps recording a 3.96/186.80.

That effort was the quickest and fastest ever for a Texas Automatic Outlaws car and is the record numbers for the class.
Gulitti logged a 6.73/66.47 losing effort.

After the run Hickl said, “I stayed in it that time!”

On the other side of the ladder Benoit’s red nitrous Camaro staged against Jones’s nitrous pickup. Benoit got a .07 jump at the light and ran his best time of the night at 4.35/163.22 to cover a trailing 5.58/103.28 for Jones.

Finals

The final pair was a contrast in many ways: nitrous vs. blower, ‘41 Willys vs. ‘02 Camaro, Texas vs. Louisiana and black against red. When the green light flashed Hickl had a .03 advantage. Benoit had issue keeping his mount hooked up running 6.25/68.62 to trail Hickl’s race winning 4.27 at 171.76. After the 3.96 of the semi finals the 4.27 was almost disappointing but not to Hickl, who finished the year in second place in the season standings and with a proven combination for the 2014 season.

The 2014 series schedule is almost finalized for the Texas Automatic Outlaws and new series President Jason Woods has some exciting things in store to make that 2014 campaign one to watch.
