The “El General” twin turbo Camaro that might be expected to compete in the X-DRL’s turbo-only class instead made the tow to Cordova. The team said the reason they came was for the two days of open testing prior to the race. They took 150 lbs out of their car, entered Pro Extreme and had Top Speed of the event with a 211.63 clocking with Eric Dillard driving.

Despite Scruggs being the odds-on favorite, newcomer Snider couldn’t be discounted as he had run a 3.698/202.85 against Von Smith’s 3.707 losing effort in the semifinals while Scruggs ran a 3.701/205 winner against Hossler and his tuner Frank Manzo.

The final might have been a real race had Scruggs not got a bit of racing luck strapping a 0.006 RT (that probably should have been a red light) on his opponent and coupled that with a 3.680/205.63 clocking that easily covered Snider’s 0.033 RT, 3.769/201.43 effort.
