Among the many supercharged entries, Scott Oksas was the only twin-turbocharged car, with a 6.078 ET at 259.01 mph for Top Speed of qualifying in the number-five slot, followed in sixth by Tim “TK” Krupa at 6.135 and number seven was the ’53 Studebaker of Jeremy Hanger at 6.212. Veteran Dan Nicholson rounded out the field with a 6.212 for eighth. (Darr Hawthorne photo)

In the third and final round of qualifying, Maggio and Meadors met to finalize a weather-shortened Fun Ford Weekend where WCOPMA last competed. Meadors, who had a visibility problem seeing around his huge supercharger and injector, mistakenly left the starting line before the starting system was activated and Maggio took the green, the win and the number-one qualifying position.

In the WCOPMA final round Rod Burbage, driving his new Spec Rite Converters-backed ’69 Camaro defeated Mark Meadors’ “Pure Hell2” Camaro with Burbage running 6.082 ET at 237.59 mph to Meadors’ 6.265 ET at 220.48 mph.  (Paul Schmitz photo)
