Qualifying

Devery Howard substituting for regular driver Jason Rupert was behind the wheel of the always strong performing “Bays & Rupert Black Plague” Camaro. The substitute driver clinched the max points for the race with a 5.780 at 246.30 mph blast that was good for the number-one spot.

Dan Horan Jr. with Ronnie Swearingen tuning continued their bracket-like numbers with a 5.809/252.85 pass for the number 2 qualifying spot. The performance got them enough points to maintain the points lead over Robert Overholser in the “California Hustler.”

Overholser ran a respectable 5.885 to take the third spot. Dennis Taylor had a career best AA/FC pass with a 5.958 to make the field.

Ed Dugan in the beautiful “Fighting Irish” Camaro seem to have solved the engine problems that have plagued this team in the past and just missed qualifying for the Quick 8 with a 6.139. Bob Godfrey ran a 6.160 and Dennis LaCharite and driver Cory Lee clocked a 6.265 lap. Chris Bennett brought out the “Pure Heaven IV” Camaro and posted a 7.047. Rick Rogers had a good 5.90 pass in testing earlier in the day, but some new parts didn’t play nice as the car struck the tires right off the line and he pedaled the “Smoky’s Darkside” Challenger to a decent 7.132.
