PRO NITROUS

Jeff Naiser (shown) had the holeshot on final-round opponent Bob Rahaim, but probably would have gotten the win anyway as Rahaim’s ’69 Camaro made a move right out of the groove about 200 feet out. Naiser’s ’68 Camaro ran straight for a 3.905/193.02 to Rahaim’s 4.915/105.09.  (Slade Tyree photo)

PRO MOD

Von Smith in the “Dr. Moon’s Rage” ’69 Camaro got the Pro Mod win when opponent Craig Cawte’s ’68 Camaro started 0.015-seconds too soon. Veteran Smith, of King, NC, had qualified at No. 10, just behind Cawte from Cranbrook, BC, Canada.

Adding to the excitement at this event was the addition of NHRA Pro Stock regular Erica Enders-Stevens as a driver of Keith Haney’s second Camaro.

Enders-Stevens' Pro Stock team, Cagnazzi Racing, has been sidelined the last four races because of a lack of sponsorship. Haney asked her to drive a Pro Mod for the first time, and she jumped at the chance. She qualified No. 15 and lost in the first round after having to pedal the car when it got out of shape.
