Steven Glubke is MVP of 60th World Series of Drag Racing

Coming in to the fifth race of the Victory Nostalgia Super Stock series, Steven Glubke was known as a tough racer. After Cordova, he will be known as a two-time World Series Champion! Glubke outlasted 36 other Victory NSS racers on Saturday night, Aug. 24, for his first World Series crown. As if that wasn’t enough, he stayed over on Sunday and after eight rounds against over 200 other Pro ET competitors, he won his second crown. This shows once again that the Victory NSS group not only put on a great show, they are some of the best racers in the country.

The action started Friday night for the Victory racers with the NSS cars being the first class to start the 60th annual World Series of Drag Racing. The large crowd roared with each pair of vintage Detroit Iron thundering down the historic Cordova, Illinois, track.

After two more rounds of qualifying on Saturday morning, 2009 Series Champion Tommy Mitchell led the pack, winning the coveted #1 Qualifier position. This led to a clash of champions in round one of Eliminations. Mitchell and his 1965 Dodge lined up against 2011 Series Champion, Dan Beale. Beale was at the wheel of Bob Kofron’s ‘68 Dart after he wounded his always-tough Pontiac earlier in the day. Mitchell’s .02 starting line advantage was too much for Beale to overcome and his day was done.
