MOUNTAIN MOTOR PRO STOCK

Only seven Pro Stock teams were at this event so it was an all-run program but despite the short field the Pro Stock teams gave the San Antonio fans a real show.

Winner John DeFlorian won his first ever IHRA Pro Stock title and re-set the IHRA speed record and runner-up Cary Goforth took the Championship point lead by making it to the final round.

On his way to that final round Goforth ran way under the IHRA official ET record of 6.251 held by Frank Gugliotta with a 6.18 lap but couldn’t back that up, allowing DeFlorian to also get the points and prestige of re-setting the IHRA ET record.

After the race DeFlorian said, "This weekend has been absolutely dynamite. I have never raced out here before, so when we rolled in here the other day I kept thinking 'man, this is going to be a lot of fun.' They told me the crowds would be spectacular and boy they weren't kidding. What an amazing place to race."

DeFlorian added, "Getting to race here is a treat and getting a win here is just amazing. We are so excited to get the win. I used to race IHRA years ago, but I never could get a win. Now, I can take this amazing trophy and record home with us."
