Dennis Diepenbrock (near lane) and Stanley Rideout during qualifying.

Round three had Kossuth continue his winning ways with a win over Bruemmer’s wheelstanding Plymouth. Stanley Rideout’s .027 reaction and 10.80 on his 10.75 index was just enough to defeat Kevin Miller’s .064 light and 11.78 on an 11.75 index. Diepenbrock’s .006 red light gave the win to Berens, who ran a 9.98 on his 10.00 class. Krueger’s starting line advantage and 11.03 forced fellow Wisconsin racer Frees to break out with a 9.71 on his 9.75 index.

Clay Kossuth and his 1963 Max Wedge Dodge.

The ladder for the semis showed the interesting pairings of the two Wisconsin facers, Krueger and Berens facing each other and the local pair of Kossuth against Rideout.

Wally Krueger (near lane) and Russ Berens prepare for their semifinal match.

In the closest race of eliminations, Krueger’s .021 light and .050-over 11.05 edged out Berens and his .019 reaction and .057-over 10.057.
Rideout’s .036 red light was the end of the race for his 1963 Max Wedge Savoy and moved Kossuth on to the finals against Krueger.
