The second qualifying session had all the competitors improve on their first run except Shane Thompson, who broke reverse on his nitrous Pontiac on the burnout and could not make the run. Kevin Hargett improved to a 4.42 at 178.92 with his red turbo Mustang. Roach also improved to a 4.40 at 160.88.

Crane knocked six-hundredths off his first run posting 4.40 at 162.33. With a full load of nitrous on board Domino ran a smooth 4.13 at 175.80. The run of the session belonged to Doug Morales as he posted 4.11 at 178.5 and made it look easy. Seven of the eight entries were now in the sub 4.5-second zone.


Chris Domino

The third and final session saw two runners jump to the top half of the field. Thompson ran a smooth 4.32 at 166.09 to move up to third and Hargett jumped up one spot cracking into the 4.30’s with a 4.39 at 175.00 mph. Domino improved to a 4.12 at 175.89 and Morales served notice that he was the car to beat running a bracket car consistent 4.10 at 177.98 to lock down the number-one qualifying spot.
