Shane Thompson

First round pairings started with Brandt’s ’96 blown Vette up against Thompson and his nitrous Pontiac. Thompson left on Brandt at the green and powered to what appeared to be an easy win, but approaching the eighth mile the car drifted toward the centerline and took out the first timing block, resulting in a DQ and a round win for Brandt. The block also took out the second timing bock and no times were recorded for either driver.

Kevin Hargett

Next up were the turbo 2001 Mustang of Hargett and the 2002 Firebird of Hendrix. This match up had no drama as Hendrix broke on the line dumping fluid on the track. Hargett singled to the win running 4.54 at 183.82 mph.
