Finals

TAO winner, Bengt Blomberg.

The final this night would produce a first-time event winner with the Texas Automatic Outlaw series. With lane choice, Bengt Blomberg stayed in the left lane he had run consistently in all night. Being relegated to the right lane was not a negative for the Brandt team as that lane had produced their career run earlier. At the green Blomberg hiked the front wheels and charged straight down Broadway as Brandt had problems and could do nothing but watch the Bird streak away to post 4.23 at 169.49 for the win to his 10.17 at 34.70.

The Blomberg crew literally jumped three feet in the air on the line in celebration, as it was Bengt’s first victory. Blomberg credited his family and on this in particular night E.J. Hickl, last year’s series runner up, for tuning help. Chris Domino’s crew also lent a hand to the winning effort and everyone was genuinely happy for the more than deserving winner.

Next up for the Texas Automatic Outlaws will be a visit to Twin Cities Motorsports Park in Monroe, La., on Saturday, June 7.
