Oldies But Goodies at Boise, Idaho

It’s Still a Goodie

One of the events that Bill New, the late owner of Firebird Raceway, created and was very fond of was the Oldies but Goodies Drags.

It was a throwback to when leather jackets and Brylcreem™ ducktails were in style. The event is part car show and part drag race. This two-day event is a social gathering of old friends and car clubs from the Boise area who come out to the track and have a good time.

This year was it was an extension of the celebration of life that was held for Bill at the beginning of the year. The commemorative T-shirt for the event was a depiction of Bill driving his beloved 1940 Ford with Scott, John, and Brad as young men in the front seat with their father.

Many people who brought their cars out for the car show also decided to make a couple laps on the strip as well.
