Finals

The finals guaranteed a repeat winner as both Doug Morales and Bengt Blomberg have won a race this year. The two powerful nitrous assisted monsters rolled through the water box and filled the damp Louisiana air with smoke after strong burnouts. When the tree flashed green, Morales gained a .05 advantage and at the 60-foot block they were glued together. As the slammers powered downtrack, flames licking out of the exhaust pipes, it was a pick ‘em race. At the line the win light came up for Doug Morales, posting a 4.25 @ 169.01 while Blomberg was right there trailing close, running 4.28@ 167.79. Morales again had backed down the tune up as he did all night, and it proved the winning strategy to negotiate the tight Twin City racing surface. With this win, combined with his victory at the double points paying event at The Texas Motorplex earlier in the year, Morales has built a 23 point lead in the seasons points standings over second place Paul Brandt.

Tadd Gates, Petey Griggs, and the entire staff of Twin City Motorsports Park ran a great event and have some of, if not the best, concession food this agent has ever had at a track. Next up for the Texas Automatic Outlaws will be a visit to Ben Bruce Raceway in Evadale, Texas, September 6, 2014.
