Day is in the class with Adam Sorokin when it comes to being on the starting line. He is arguably one of the best in all of nitro car racing when it comes to driving on the starting line.

Day, staging shallow, was still .088 on the Tree while Stanger was struggling with grip going down course.

Day and Crew Chief Chris Nance, who earlier in the day were the only team to take advantage of an open test hit to evaluate the track and weather conditions, ran the best ET and top speed of the round at 5.92-238.53. Stanger hung in there to make a race of it, trailing Day with a 6.68 at 174.38.

Between session one and two, there was mostly routine maintenance going on with the teams. However, even though this was a show, these teams were very competitive.

Taylor was not lost on the fact he missed having top speed of the session by .7 of a mile per hour.

“Got my pocket picked for top speed, not liking that,” Taylor said while in Garten’s trailer looking at the computer after the run.
