Race 5 of 6 in the Victory NSS Series took place at Gateway Motorsports Park on September 13th & 14th. The classic Victory Super Stockers were one of the headline classes at the 20th anniversary UBDRA Black Sunday Event. The weather was sunny and cool, but the action on the track was hot and exciting. Going into this race, Russ Berens had a slim one round lead over fellow Wisconsin racer and friend Wally Krueger. These two veteran racers had each won 2 races thus far, dominating the Points Series. 29 Nostalgia Super stocks started Qualifying, with everyone gunning for the Wisconsin duo of Berens and Krueger. After three rounds of Qualifying, Berens set the stage for things to come. Russ and his hard charging 1967 Hemi Plymouth nabbed the coveted #1 position with an incredible .002 over on his 10.00 index. Series newcomer, Jon Landwehr was just a tick behind with a .004 over on his 11.00 index with his Wedge powered 1965 Plymouth.
