The Chevys take revenge

The weather was beautiful for racing in October dring the Fun ford Weekend vs. Mega Mopar Action. The Chevrolets got revenge on the Fords during this show. Back in March, Fords dominated the Super Chevy Show at PBIR and this time the Chevys came back with vengeance. With approximately 130 cars racing the action was intense on the 1320.

In addition to the drag racing there were more than 110 cars on display in the Car Show area.

Top Eliminator (Box)

In the Top Eliminator class it was Randy "The Silent Killer" Weber from Loxahatchee, Fla., who put on a display over the field. After qualifying first, Weber continued to run within hundredths of his dial in round after round until he reached the finals. Weber faced off against Steve Hatfield of Deerfield Beach, Fla. in the final round. Hatfield dialed in at 7.76 seconds to Weber's 7.88 seconds. At the top end Hatfield ended up running a 7.910 seconds, 165.92 mph giving the win light to Weber who ran 7.921 seconds, 159.19 mph.

Final: Randy Weber (7.88), 7.921 seconds, 159.19 mph def. Steve Hatfield(7.76), 7.910 seconds, 165.92 mph.

Super Eliminator (No Box)

The Super Eliminator class was one that was dominated by the Chevy's. AJ Issman of Deerfield Beach, Fla. qualified his 1972 Nova in the first position. Issman was knocked out in Round 4 by Casey Miles from Boca Raton, Fla. Miles dialed in at 11.93 seconds to run a 11.965 seconds, 103.50 mph and get the win over Issman who dialed in at 10.59 seconds to run a 10.582 seconds, 124.80 mph. Miles continued on to the Final Round where he faced off against Jupiter, Fla. resident Robert Caperna. Both drivers piloting Chevy's, Miles dialed in at 11.88 seconds and Caperna at 11.69 seconds. Caperna got the jump at the tree with a .033 reaction time and took home the victory defeating Miles.

Final: Robert Caperna (11.69), 11.685 seconds, 112.58 mph def. Casey Miles (11.88), 11.843 seconds, 119.42 mph.
