John Broussard

It was late into the night when the finalists fired their cars for the last time in 2015. Smith was in his first OFAA final round appearance while Broussard was looking to end the season on a high note after coming up short of his Championship defense from 2014. The cars crept to the beams, Smith pumping nitro fumes high into the sky while Broussard brought up the RPMs on his blown alcohol entry and bumped into the beams. At the flash of the ambers Smith blasted off the line with a red light start while all eyes switched to Broussard who went into violent front tire shake which resulted in broken steering linkage parts and left him without any control. Smith coasted to a 6.77 at 68 while Broussard was hard on the brake handle trying to regain control. Broussard's car started drifting to the centerline and luckily he was able to bring it to a stop just before crossing the centerline, making Broussard the winner after Smith's red light start.

A wild night concluded with one of the most bizarre OFAA finals in the series' nineteen year history. John Broussard and team "Purple Haze" scored their first win of the season at the finals and Jimmy Jones clinched the Championship, his fourth. It was yet another action packed season of racing for the OFAA teams and the final points positions are posted with Donnie Massey in second and John Broussard, Bobby Marriott and Mary Reep rounding out the top five.
