Thundering burnouts across the starting line are the norm for T/F bikes, just like their 4 wheeled counterparts.

All parties agreed to meet, and on April 16, 2013, they rented the track at Virginia Motorsports Park.  Dave first stood beside the Pollard Nitrosports T/F bike, which in November of 2009, took Geoff Pollard into the 5th spot of the official MTC 5 Second Club.  In 2009, Geoff Pollard, the previous pilot of the bike, recorded a 5.96 elapsed time at 233.32 mph.

Front wheel in the air for most of the run is normal in Top Fuel bike.  It’s quite a sight to see a 14’ long 1200hp motorcycle boogie down 1320’ of race track on one wheel.

For Dave to stand beside the bike, firing it up for the first time, knowing he was going to pilot it for the first time, his thoughts were pretty much a blur.  “It was a very surreal experience.  I just had to get in the zone and stay there.  In looking back at it, if I were to look at what I was about to do, you know - from the outside looking in - I’d have to question my sanity.  These bikes go from zero to 100mph in sixty feet.”
