Supercharger racer Danny Rowe was third with a 5.885/249.30. 

Defending NHRA Pro Mod Champ Rickie Smith qualified fourth with a 5.886 at 246.30 in his IDG Camaro.

The first round of Eliminations for the J&A Services Pro Mod program is usually conducted on Saturday night as it was at the Houston event. Eliminations offered fans a variety of racing. Mike Janis, Bill Glidden, and Steve Whiteley all won when their opponents red-lighted. Mike Knowles and Danny Rowe lost on holeshots by Troy Coughlin and Troy (T.J.) Coughlin Jr.

The other three races in the first round were decided by thousandths of a second. The Pro Mods lived up to their reputation of unpredictability.
