Duncan Micallef was the only one of the three RFMotorsports entries to get out of the first round of eliminations, the Maltese driver having made the field with a last gasp 4.2889 that required a serious pedal after hitting heavy shake and bumped Stefan Gunnarsson out of the field on his competition debut in the class. Micallef also required a stab pedal stab pedal stab approach to take his first elimination round win of the year in the Manta Multimedia rail over Stig Neergaard who was having a stab, pedal, stab, over the centerline, steer, up on two wheels (and probably on one and looking like he was going to turn the car over), back into lane and glance the wall. All pretty dramatic stuff, particularly when this happened before the 1/8th mile clocks!

Mikael Kågered and the Bahco Tools Express team started off with an oiled hit or two but, having qualified in sixth spot with a reasonable 4.1760, raceday saw a change in fortune as the Swede got within a whisker of the threes with a 4.0086/ to comfortably take the win over an up in smoke Jari Halinen (who had previously lowered his PB to a 4.0304 and was well over 300mph on a couple of occasions in qualifying). Kågered may well be a strong player in defending his 2014 title.
