The Dutch ‘71 Charger of van der Weurf was someway off PB territory, but the alky fueled flopper was regularly hitting the high sixes over the course of the event and will no doubt feature large at some of the remaining nostalgia-themed events for the rest of the season.

Two racers that were first footing in nitro fuelled action came from different ends of the driving experience spectrum with veteran Bob Glassup wheeling the Bubblegum NFC that the Xtreme Racing team have been patiently putting together with crew chief Dave Gibbons adopting the same careful approach adopted by Loaring with the Apache entry. Numbers weren’t spectacular, but the addition of a European-bodied entry to the growing NFC field (the Dragstalgia pits contained another two entries in various states of build and another brace are being put together elsewhere in the country) is a very welcome sight.

The rookie behind the wheel was Jake Clayton twirling the butterfly of Lawrie Gatehouse’s Donovan motivated Chaos Topolino, the transition from crew member to driver saw Clayton progress a substantial way through his licensing procedure and he certainly wasn’t shy of mashing the throttle at the hit.
