National Finals, Santa Pod Raceway, England

The end of the year for the car classes who had been chasing a combination of National and track championships throughout 2015 and for the bulk of the bike classes the National Finals represented their penultimate round of the UK season.

MSA Pro Modified

Kevin Slyfield

The conclusion in the headline class had Kevin Slyfield looking to lead the MSA Pro Modified championship from start to finish, with David Moore and Andy Robinson both gaining ground in the latter half of the six-event season and with a mathematical chance of rounding Slyfield at the last.

Andy Robinson

After qualifying, Robinson was placed quickest with a 6.2164/230.04 mph run from his supercharged 1969 Camaro, Slyfield in second spot with a 6.3492/223.23 mph (representing a new personal best from his ’57 Thunderbird) and Moore’s nitrous injected Viper in third with a 6.4647/213.09 mph. With the field set, Slyfield needed to go a single round of eliminations to take his first MSA title and the no-show of scheduled opponent Wayne Nicholson duly sent the 2015 title to Dorset in Slyfield’s trailer. In a slight twist of fate, Slyfield hit violent tireshake and shutoff in the semifinal handing Moore a spot in the final round where he would face Robinson.
