Dean Carter (far lane) took the Jr. Fuel win over John Marottek. Carter ran 7.048/164.79 to Marottek’s 7.490/176.65

Jr. Fuel attracted four cars, all FEDs and led by Wayne Ramsey from Simi Valley, Calif. Wayne’s number 1 qualifier came by way of a 7.14 ET and 186.15 MPH. Those marks would fall as soon as eliminations started Sunday. Dean Carter, one of my acorns (racers featured in my DRO ‘Then & Now’ column over the years) drove his Ray Carter-tuned injected Chevy powered Jr. to consecutive runs of 7.01 and 7.18 seconds to win the title ‘going away’!

A field of 12 7.0 Pro cars battled four rounds to declare Richard High (near lane) of Lake Havasu the winner as well as #1 qualifier. Runner-up went to a disappointed Terri Brewster (far lane) from nearby Green Valley, Ariz. But her crew got to exercise their ‘air horn’ when she won the semi-final round…and we all enjoyed it.

Nostalgia Eliminator 1 found Murray, Utah (yes, that is Salt Lake City), checking in for the win as Steve Schoenfeld drove his ’23 T Altered to the title over Brandon Seraphine.

Ed Silbermann of Lake Isabella, Calif., with an FED was right on the 7.60 index with a 7.603 for #1.
