Round two saw the cagey driver take a single in the thirteen car field and rather than take it easy he wrung the Tri-Chevy's neck recording a stellar 5.587/258.37. This was the second quickest run of all time and the sixth fastest with the crew celebrating jubilantly back on the start-line. The last pairing was up against Anthony Begley in the "LA Hooker" Plymouth Arrow. This time the '57 driver took the lead off the line by a couple of hundredths and was never headed as Gauci made it three from three with a stellar 5.662/246.75 turning back Begley’s 5.867/236.05.

While three drivers had won all their races it came down to the one that had run the lowest ET of the three and Gauci's solo 5.587 in round two received the nod for the overall win. After the event he was in a celebratory mood saying "the ‘Nitro Express’ did it again! Thanks to Graeme and Wendy (Cowin) and all of my team, it was just one of those nights for us, it all just clicked". Fellow fuel peddler, Shane Olive taunted Gauci during his speech by pointing and shaking a bottle of champagne at the event victor and soon champagne was flowing everywhere.

In the lead up to the event a new car for Shane Olive was announced - the '57 Chevrolet "Red Devil" in honour of his father Phil's GM-Holden FJ AA/Gasser. The new car not only looked great but made an excellent debut to boot with the second generation racer taking three wins from three rounds. First up this saw the "Red Devil" face Nathan Periano's "Time Traveller" Vega and on the green Olive was long gone to a winning 5.975 with the Vega following nut crossing the centreline for an instant foul.

Round two saw the gorgeous Tri Chevy burnout against Harold Campbell's "Insanity" Plymouth Satellite and then both pulled into stage. It was Campbell's first event in his own new ride and was having troubles with the clutch - on the green he was left on the line by Olive who streaked away to a slowing 6.340 win. Lastly Olive faced Morice McMillan's "One Bad Kiwi" Trans Am and while the Enzedder grabbed half a tenth on the lights by the other end the "Red Devil" had caught and passed him with a solid 5.773/256.89 turning back a second best 6.335.

As was mentioned above, despite winning his three pairings, Olive was crowed runner up however he was philosophical about his result. “We had a few little things to sort out on the car but it was a good night, we snuck up on it and to get second on debut was a good result for the boys”, he said.

The third place getter was the ‘Let’s Boogie’ Mustang driven by Queenslander, Justin Walshe. Walshe has had some success in the series recording a third place at this event last year. He faced Morice McMillen in the "One Bad Kiwi" Pontiac Trans Am in the first frame and despite the Enzedder grabbing the lead off the line by half a tenth he soon caught and passed him in a close 6.012 to 6.217 joust.

Round two had the Ford driver face fellow Queenslander, Jake Donnelly in his new bright yellow "Bumble Bee" Chev Camaro. Donnelly was obviously still getting familiar with the car as Walshe had him covered off the line and across the stripe, a 5.901 turned back a second best 6.978. Walshe’s final race of the night was against fellow Queensland based racer, Paul Messineo that saw the two Mustangs stay side-by-side down the entire quarter mile. Walshe won the race on the start-line as his .126 light had his opponent's .256 well covered. At the other end though, his 5.832/242.02, was just enough to cover a 5.750 at a booming 251.11 mph.
