Finals

Harry Crane

The final matched two friends and fierce competitors as Arkansas’ Harry Crane paired off against hometown Texas Chris Domino. The edge on paper went to Domino based on his consistent 4.0 runs, sans the second qualifying session, but Crane had at least mid teens in the blue Camaro to challenge. At the green both cars left hard and just past the 60-foot mark both lost traction and the pedal fest was on. Domino got back in it and his mount grabbed and streaked down track as Crane tried but could not get his ride to stick to the cool track. Domino took the victory putting up a 4.31 @ 155.76 to Crane’s trailing 6.13 @ 87.09 in defeat.

Chris Domino

With the win and the performance demonstrated by Chris Domino and his team, the future looks very positive for the Lumberton, Texas, resident.

Crew Chief Brian Vance described the Friday night test incident when the throttle hung open as a nightmare beginning stating, “I thought he put in the wall. I didn’t see the chutes and all we could see was smoke and dust everywhere. I said you alright on the radio and he came back with yeah. I asked did you wreck it and he said no and I couldn’t believe it.”

Despite the challenge that incident posed, Team Domino came through when it counted. Chris was quick to thank Pat Musi for the power and Mark Micke of M&M Transmission for helping to get that power to the ground.

Domino told me later “This motor has been quicker and faster than any other engine I have owned to date from the first test hit. It’s one of those weekends that change's your life. I set two world records in 1994 in a drag boat -- wasn’t as fulfilling as this weekend. Trying and trying for the past two years and finally make a dream come true has changed my life … humbling.”

The number one and number two in the points standings being trailered in round one, sets up an intriguing final race to determine the 2016 Series Champion. Going into the final event Bob Gulitti holds a 27-point advantage over Tim Ortiz. In light of the performance of Chris Domino this Saturday night, however, his role as spoiler will be a major factor as he goes for the double up to end the year.

The Texas Automatic Outlaw Pro Mods Finals will be run on Saturday November 19, 2016 at Evadale Raceway, Evadale, Texas.
