The Super Stock and Competition brackets were woefully under subscribed with only three entries each and as such they were joined into a Super Comp bracket. This saw Clint George’s 394 Chev small block-powered B/APA Chev Cavalier take on the A/APA 500 Chev big block-powered Monte Carlo of Wade Moran in the final. Moran couldn’t wait the nearly half a second for his handicap and red lighted by five thousandths allowing George to take the gold with a slowing 8.074.

A seven bike field greeted the starter in the Competition Bike bracket with Blair Pennington’s extended frame 1000 cc Suzuki GSXR taking on the 1299 cc turbo Suzuki-powered Hyabusa of Brandon Gosbell. Pennington was slightly quicker in leaving but by going .035 under his index kept Gosbell at bay back on a .027 under 7.661.

The quickest car in the field, the 762 Chev-powered Pontiac GXP of Sydney’s Steven Fowler (near lane) went up against the ’57 Chev Sports Coupe of Daniel Donnelly. This saw the latter grab four hundredths of a second off the line against his opponent in the money round, however, the big Tri-Chevy started to falter down track and Fowler had no sooner caught and passed him before slowing to a .039 over 7.178 to ensure he didn’t break out.

The white 500 cubic inch Sainty-powered Lamborghini of the Sciacca family (far lane) took on the blown altered of Rob Coote. Alf Sciacca Jnr had been on his dial-in the whole day and when he recorded a 0.012 lit 7.003 on a 7.00 dial-in then it was goodnight nurse for Coote whose .145 activated .057 over 6.627 wasn’t good enough in the end.
